About our foodbank

This is how we came into being, and what motivates us to continue serving our community in Larne

Our foodbank is a project founded by local churches and community groups, working together towards stopping hunger in our local area.

A number of local people from local churches and other organisations came together with a vision and desire to help to alleviate the problem of hunger within our community. Craigy Hill Methodist Church kindly offered their premises to base the Larne Foodbank, and the doors were opened in 2013.

We are aware that since the financial crash of 2008 there have been an increasing number of families and individuals who have been finding it difficult to make ends meet, and have enough to put food on the table. This has motivated us to make ourselves available to bring help to this situation.

We work with other agencies such as Christians Against Poverty (CAP) and others to help and advise families and individuals who have run into difficulties of a financial nature. We have also contacted around 40 churches and organisations throughout the area who are able to issue Foodbank Vouchers.
